Standard Drain Down Procedure
Upon Departure
  1. Shut breaker off for electric water heater (If applicable).
  2. Close main water valve.
  3. Open All water faucets, tub & shower valves, (hot & cold) about 1/2 way, both inside & outside of house.
  4. Pour 1 cup of anti-freeze into each fixture drain. (This includes sinks, tubs, showers, etc...).
  5. For toilets, flush first then pour 1 cup of anti-freeze into tank and 2 cups in bowl.
  6. Leave all water drains / faucets in the open position.
Upon Arrival
  1. Close all water faucets, tub & shower valves, (hot & cold) both inside & outside of house.
  2. Close all water drain valves.
  3. Open main water valve. (Always open valves slowly)
  4. Open a hot water tap until air quits blowing, and a steady stream of water runs continuously for at least a minute (This assures that water heater is full).
  5. Turn water heater breaker ON (if applicable).
